War and Women

ALL STAR BREAK

Time and Saturn, time and space, 'time is to mind as space is to matter.' The literary delusions and allusions to the romance, ballet, inspiration, vegetative, metaphysical, spiritual, athletic rewarding aspects of the eccentric obsessed ridiculous inclusion of baseball in the occupation of mind, with the gravity of time being at war with the rational parts of my soul. Baseball certainly takes time and space in its endless daily changes. Baseball is day to day moment to moment. Multiple and simultaneous games going through Internet and television wires can make it ever-present during its season; for those attending live games more time is given. Statistics without end float by the mind. Some statistics live only for a day. It's a bees' nest of intrigue ever moving on like the river. If at any time I integrate one of the millions of astrological matrixes into the equation....... well I try to limit it all.

I have done reasonably well the last few years paying attention, following teams, players, and managers without being obsessed. Leaving myself time to paint, to write about things not baseball, to have a life with friends or lovers or conversations or meditations or pains, sorrows, passions, but not too long ago I was asked to collaborate on a fantasy baseball team. Like Caesar I hemmed and hawed professesing disinterest warning of the time energy and money that could be consumed. I made serious objections to the pursuit, but like Caesar I readily submitted.

It wasn't that I did not know obvious things as the season began, such as Saturn in Cancer would begin its conjunction with the New York's Yankees George Steinbrenner, Joe Torre, and Derek Jeeter or that it had been one complete cycle or Uranus {about 84 years} since the curse of the bambino descended upon Boston.
If it were not to be transcended this year it might be the curse was under the power of Pluto and its 240-year cycle.

. As Uranus went into Pisces conjunct Mars it was difficult not to think about Kevin Brown and his aggressive style of pitching. Or how it was going to effect Virgo pitchers such as Mark Prior. The fact that astrology involves a big 12-month calendar and baseball is roughly six months does one employ a variation on the Hindu system wherein the last six morph and intermix into the first six signs. For example Pisces and Virgo would be viewed as receiving a similar stress pattern. At any rate I will live my life I will not look up or be aware of the lunar phases of starting pitchers nor the relationship of the transiting moon to their natal Mars.
